Could you tell us a bit about Print Studios - how it all began and the story behind the company?

Heya! Absolutely. Print Studios was started by myself and my two co-founders back in 2020 with the goal of creating slots that delivered mind-blowing experiences. We all share an unshakeable determination that hard work and bold ideas can elevate the gambling experience far beyond what we see today. We are headquartered in Malta and we’re 16 people spread out across Europe.

Your slot portfolio looks amazing! Some games, like Darkness, Tarasque, and Cash Defense, really stand out with a unique twist compared to what we usually see. Can you tell us more about your current game selection?

Thank you! With each game, we introduce something new and that’s part of the reason we have such a diverse portfolio. Our games often bring the most beloved aspects of slot gaming to entirely new mechanical vistas, utilizing everything from video games to horror movies as inspiration. In our view, a game is only as good as its weakest link, and so we are relentless about art, animations, mechanics, math, sound and optimization all coming together in harmony. In doing so, we see every release as a worthy contender of Game of the Year.

Do you have a few personal favourites from your slot collection? If so, which ones resonate with you, and what makes them special?

Really good question! I obviously like them all but I do have my sentimental favourites. Book of Destiny being one, because that was the first game we released and of course, that was a stand-out moment. Royal Potato is also one of my top as it was the game that really put us on the map. They all have something but those two are closest to my heart.

How do you go from an initial idea to a completed slot game? Can you walk us through the steps of the process?

The initial idea can come from anywhere but typically it’s our product owners that drives it. Once an idea is set, we all jump on a call to discuss art direction and overall mechanics. Then the artist starts drawing up the universe and the maths model is refined. In tandem, the developers start on the game and on it goes. Throughout the process we play a lot of spins in prototype mode and later demo mode to ensure the math is balanced. It’s a long process and usually takes us 9 months from idea to finished product. We are relentless about our games so we like to take our time perfecting everything.

With your games featured by both major and smaller operators, how do you keep them engaged and informed about your newest releases and also make sure they promote your games in various bonus campaigns?

The competition is getting more and more each day. We are fortunate to have good relationships with many operators and the commercial team is driving a lot of that. At the end of the day, having good games helps and our account managers are doing an excellent job in ensuring we’re seen! There are no shortcuts so there’s a lot of hard work that goes into it, not only creating the game but also making sure it’s seen. It’s a team effort across the whole business!

Responsible gaming is always a major focus. What measures do you implement to ensure your games promote safe and responsible play?

Absolutely it is and we were one of the first (if not first) studio to put the RTP on the load screen for instance. As players ourselves, we were bothered by the fact you couldn’t be sure of what version you were playing. It’s not always easy finding it in the rules so we decided to put it front and centre on the load screen for everyone to see. Apart from that, we try our very best to ensure everyone understands our games and the math behind it, in doing so we hope to educate players how slots work.

Can you share a sneak peek at what’s next for Print Studios and what exciting plans are on the horizon?

We have a lot of cool ideas to come for 2025. You can expect six awesome games with the first one coming late February. That game came about from trying loads of different, simple math concepts in our new prototype tool. The math model was incredibly punchy and we could just not stop playing. This game is ideal for both casual players and enthusiasts that want to get straight into the action. More to come so stay tuned! Thanks for having me on.
