Print Studios Q&A with Casivo

Print Studios Q&A with Casivo

Can you tell us about your background and what led you to start Print Studios?

Sure! I started my career at Kindred Group in London working as a trainee. After a few years running the commercial side of esports, I moved to Malta to take on the US for Raketech. In 2020 me and my two co-founders found the perfect timing to set up Print Studios, so we went for it. The three of us have always been into playing computer games and everything igaming so the idea to start a slots studio came naturally for us.

What does a typical day look like for you as the founder and leader of Print Studios?

We uphold a flat organization and place trust in each other to deliver to the best of our capabilities. No day is the same and I think that goes for everyone here. For me it can be anything from talking with people like yourself to playing early versions of our upcoming releases.

Can you describe the process of how a new game goes from idea to finished product?

It’s a rather lengthy process and for us it can take anywhere from 9-12 months from idea to finished product. Typically, we all get together and decide on what idea we like. Once that decision is taken, the mathematician starts with the prototype and the artist starts dreaming up the theme. In tandem, the developer starts and as we go along, we perfect the math, art, sound and story. It’s a team effort and a lot go into creating a slot.

If you can't answer Print Studios, who do you think is currently the leading slot developer and what do they do well?

There’s a lot of talented studios out there and we typically see two approaches in the industry, quality over quantity or quantity over quality (simplified). Someone who’s been consistently producing quality games is Elk. I really like their Pirots series as it showcases a cool mechanic together with a great theme. Octoplay is another studio that has really risen as of late. They have some nice concepts, although a different approach to slots than us.

How do you think AI will impact slots in the short and long term?

I asked AI to answer this question: “In the short term, AI will enhance slot games by providing personalized gaming experiences. Through machine learning algorithms, AI can analyse player behaviour and preferences to offer customized game recommendations and bonuses, increasing player retention and satisfaction. In the long term, AI has the potential to revolutionize game design and development.”

I think AI is good for finding inspiration, especially on the art side when you want to explore new themes and worlds. However, I think we’re far from utilizing it in the game creation process at Print Studios. One shouldn’t rule it out long term of course but we’re yet to see a successful game created solely with AI in the industry. The key to great slots is still in the hands of humans.

What sets Print Studios apart from other game developers on the market?

The team! We all share a determination for hard work and bold ideas, ensuring that every aspect of the game creation process is infused with passion. With each game, we introduce something new, so I think players have come to understand that they’re in for a treat when playing a Print Studios game.

How do you work with feedback from players and customers to improve your products?

It’s not easy getting direct feedback as a B2B supplier. What we typically do is engage with various online forums and watch streamers for any comments. I think affiliates like yourself can help provide feedback as well. Recently, we also set up our own discord channel. That has been a great way for us to get firsthand feedback on early demo versions or things we can change for the future. We welcome all feedback, good or bad.

What future plans do you have for Print Studios and what can we expect from you in the coming years?

We’ve only gotten started! We have awesome slots in the making for this year and looking at the long term, you can expect more of the innovative mechanics and themes we have come to be known for. We’re always looking to push the boundaries of what a slot is.
